Hi, I'm Jess, the sole creator, artisan and owner of The Soap House.

I am a Canadian born, Kiwi resident living in beautiful Queenstown for the last 10 years. 

Since a young age I have had a real passion and love of all things creative. After exploring many endeavours throughout the years, I am happy to say, I have found the one outlet that always gets me excited and never grows old – Artisan soap making.

​

​Nearly 5 years ago I decided to hop online and explore the history and methods of artisan soap making. I imagined that it would be a straight forward process, little did I know the information I was about to unravel. For many months, I studied endless tutorials, read countless blogs and watched seasoned soap makers for hours on end. Until the day finally came to make my first batch of handmade soap.

Once I had invested in my equipment and supplies, I was ready to go. After a lot of trial and error, and a few botched batches along the way, I can still remember jumping for joy the first time (and every time) I unpeeled that perfect batch from its mold.

​

I immediately fell in love with the creative process - I was hooked! 

​

So I began making soap for friends, spending weeks curing the perfect batch and crafting unique aroma and colour profiles along the way. I then began selling my products at every market on offer in the Central Otago for 3 years. My favourite time of year is market season and I love connecting with my customers, learning their favourite products, scents and gifts, plus being part of these amazing community events is so satisfying.

My range of soaps, bath salts and essential oil products has been refined through these years of experience, growth and learning from people that love sustainably crafted, handmade products.
